Purchase Process

Each and every prospective family is screened for suitability of their home and lifestyle to ensure families are a good fit for what we produce here at Moro. We match puppies to our clients, and once a family is screened and approved, the family will be put on our waitlist if they are waiting on a future litter/mating. We do not accept deposits until we are sure that we have a successful mating and have pups on the way. There is no commitment to be put on our waitlist and once we have a successful mating or have pups on the ground we can begin accepting deposits. Deposits are what constitute a formal reservation for a Moro pup. Pick order for puppies is in the order of deposits received.

OUR PRICING STRUCTURE:

Our puppies are priced based on written evaluations by a third party evaluator which are done just prior to 8 weeks of age. At this age the skeletal structure of puppies mimic that of adulthood in all of the important aspects that are needed to determine quality of structure. Character and temperament is monitored starting at about 5-6 weeks of age and is also observed and tested during the evaluation process. We use a modified Volhard Test.

Pricing is not based on a buyer's plans for a puppy, but rather the inherent quality of the puppy itself, which is determined by our 3rd party evaluations mentioned above. We will gladly place a show quality puppy in a suitable companion home, and in fact depending on what the buyer wishes to do with the dog at adulthood, a companion home might require a breed or show quality structured dog in order for the dog to be able to physically hold up to certain types of lifestyles. Examples of this would be owners that wish to have a running partner someday, or perhaps a buyer that wishes to do agility with their dog. Having sound structure protects dogs from injury or breaking down over time. With the above in mind, pricing is as follows:

Non-Breed quality puppies - $4000.

On average, 1 in 5 or so of puppies we produce will fall under this pricing which is based on the results of the evaluation process. These puppies are to be spayed or neutered for release of registration papers. We have come a long way in our breeding program over many years, and so consistently are able to produce very sound puppies across the board, having less variance in litters than our beginning years. An evaluation of non-breed quality may occur for things such as weak pigmentation, lack of balance in gait, or a character that is non-conforming to the breed standard. We are particular about the quality of breedstock that we allow to produce progeny under the Moro name; so dogs that do not meet our standards for strict adherence to the FCI White Swiss Shepherd breed structure and character type are placed on these type of contracts.

Breed to show quality puppies - $4500-$5500

Pricing of individual pups will be based on individual evaluations as described above. Puppies that are considered breed quality will be closer to the low end of the pricing spectrum while the more competitive show prospects puppies will be at the higher end of the pricing range. All puppies that evaluate as breed quality or above will be sold with full registration/breeding rights. All of Moro's breed stock is registered with our FCI member country (Puerto Rico), so they are entered into the official world studbook for the breed.

Deposits $1000

Deposit to reserve a puppy is $1000, and is non-refundable unless we are unable to provide a suitable puppy. Litter picks are in order of deposits received, with the exception of Moro retains the right to pick male/female, or we may sell our first pick to a client. To explain "provide a suitable puppy" with regards to our non-refundable deposits: for example, if a buyer desires a female, and no females, or not enough females are available, we will refund the deposit. Also, owning a shepherd is a long term commitment, and Moro takes extreme care in matching a puppy's temperament with a home that is suitable for the particular energy level, drives, and housing attributes that vary depending on the individual pup. If an available puppy is not suitable in this regard, we will refund your deposit, or move your deposit forward to a future litter - your choice.
